Gender-based violence causes profound problems in the socialisation of the people who suffer it, having both physical and permanent mental consequences. These range from physical, emotional and mental problems in the women and children who suffer it, to difficulties in social inclusion. As a vulnerable group, women victims of gender-based violence also face economic scarcity due to various physical or psychological impairments. For this reason, they need a support network that not only looks after them from a legal perspective, but also strategies that focus on their mental and emotional recovery.
On numerous occasions, theatre has served as a tool to work on people’s competencies and skills, develop self-confidence and self-esteem and promote social inclusion.
The main objective of the Take the Stage project (No. 2021-1-ES01-KA220-ADU-000033546) is to develop the capacity of professionals working in the field of support for victims of gender-based violence. The specific objectives of the project are:
- Strengthen the skills and competencies of people who will show support to victims.
- To promote a more inclusive society
- Empower victims of gender-based violence and enhance their reintegration into society
- Promote gender equality
